FAQ
Q.) Can you send me a mirror of THP's document collection?
A.) No. The data set huge. We've spent a lot of time doing this. The Hardware Project is free and unlimited already. We're selfish, etc.
Q.) ...but what if the site goes belly up?
A.) We'll probably post a torrent of THP's collection and send a copy to Jason Scott/The Archive Team.
Q.) What if I can't find a document I'm looking for?
A.) Send us a message via the "Contact Us" link and we'll see what we can do?
Q.) Where did these documents come from?
A.) Usually directly from the manufacturer. Sometimes from hardware resellers, enthusiast websites, and the internet archive (archive.org).
Q.) What methods were used to download these documents?
A.) Site scrapers, crawlers, URL generators, grab-a-beer-and-click-all-the-links sessions.
Q.) How were these documents vetted and labeled?
A.) One by one. Every single document was opened and hand labeled. Some file naming tasks were automated.
Q.) Can I submit documents to The Hardware Project?
A.) Yes! If it's just one/few documents, email it/them to us. If it's a large quantity, contact us and we'll set up a better method.
